I've been on quite a sabbatical from Xanga. I've barely had the time to breathe lately - even at the moment. So here's the quickest update I can manage right now!

Huge THANKS to all those who've come out to support me every week (or to just get wasted every week ) at 46 Grand!! Because I just got asked to work regularly every Friday NIGHT - no more happy hours! I'll be behind the bar from 9-close every Fri. Come visit me! Promise you won't regret it...but I can't promise you won't forget it. Hehe.

The Heineken Amsterjam concert was kickass!! Snoop Dogg, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bootsy all did a mash-up together. Also got to see 311 and Wyclef, and we were right in front of the stage! But what topped it off was we got to see it all for FREE!! Perks in advertising can be good. Also, J just got hooked up with tix to the US Open, so hopefully I can go to that, too.

On the downside, I had a VERY sobering conversation with the 'rents this weekend. It definitely put a reality check on the ideal world that exists only in my head. Long story...maybe I'll go into it sometime in the future, but all I gotta say is...fear of the unknown can be really tragic. The things people are afraid of, simply because they can't and refuse to try to understand it, really limit one's experiences in life. It's a harsh world for the idealists out there.

Friday, August 12, 2005

Will give the lowdown on the Hamptons soon, I promise. But in a nutshell...it was off tha hook! Too bad I don't have ANY of the wonderful pictures that I took. Grrrr.

On a lighter note, Sean is a dork. Check it
I'll be bartending the late shift from 9pm on tonight. Come show some love and celebrate the citizenship of the 'Seoulmates.' haha

>Edit:GOT MY TIX TO AUSTIN, BABY!! ACL, HERE I COME! WHO'S WITH ME??

Friday, July 29, 2005
I'm off to the Hamptons today!! Holla!

So Stunna was kind enough to invite me to her company's party for the opening of American Eagle's flagship store in Union Square on Wednesday. I went there all scrubbin in my work clothes, thinkin it ain't a big deal. Some free food, music, and maybe booze if we're lucky. Well damn was I wrong! We rolled up there at 7, and there was a huge line outside the store. People were obviously dressed to impress! Then a crowd of photographers were outside flashing away. Luckily, we didn't have to wait to get in..."er, sure I work for AE with them..."

So we get in right away, and a host hands us a free beer. I'm happy! Then there's DJ AM spinnin by the denim display. The place was swarming with trendy hipsters, models, designers, and artsy fartsy people crowding around the summer tanks section. Of course Stunna and I head straight for the OPEN BAR. Score! We munch on some fancy shrimp kebabs and mini crabcakes on the way. Even better. Then we see the hot guy from the cast of Entourage! And there's Rosario Dawson posing with Tori Spelling by the front door. Rosario looked hot, but Tori - not. I wanted to throw some bread at her. Eat something, woman!!

We ended up chatting with Rosario in the bathroom of all places. Haha. Andy Dick (the busted male version of Paris Hilton) was there of course and supposedly Nick Lachey. Didn't see him though. After our fifth drink, we decide to leave the glitz and glamour to get down 'n' dirty at Bobs! I left with some free jeans, a buzz, and a smile on my face. Fun night, indeed. Damn open bar - I ended up passing out on my bed in the middle of changing and woke up at 4am still in my skirt!! Goodness.

Wednesday, July 20, 2005
Okay so I've been completely MIA in Xangaland for quite a while. The time has finally come to celebrate our move downtown! That means a potluck dinner at our place followed by (more) drinks and dancing at Uncle Ming's in the East Village. We'll probably be heading out around midnight. There will be plenty of goodies, but please bring some food or drinks of your choice. Get ready to kick back, get your grub on, and get your groove on! Cheers.

Tuesday, June 28, 2005
Man. I can't even keep up with Mama and Pappa Sheng! How sad is that? So this weekend I learned that every family's got one overruling talent, and for the Sheng family it's definitely socializing! Sure, it may not be as impressive as rocket science or some musical talent, but we sure know how to make plenty of friends and keep 'em! Oh, and of course that includes knowing how to kick back and have a good time.

Anyhow, I've had a great weekend with the 'rents. So glad they got to meet a lot of my friends...it's nice to have so many important people in your life all gathered together in one room. It's a shame we don't get the chance to spend more quality time together. But I guess it makes you appreciate the times you do share that much more. It's amazing to see how happy my parents were just to be with my sis and me. It really didn't matter what we were doing...or not doing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So I was reading an article about how the younger generation of employees (like me) has been deemed as the "Entitlement Generation."
Young workers want it all, now
Oh, and they'll need to take next Friday off, too
"We're seeing an epidemic of people who are having a hard time making the transition to work -- kids who had too much success early in life and who've become accustomed to instant gratification," says Dr. Mel Levine, a pediatrics professor at the University of North Carolina Medical School. "Many of the individuals we see are heavily committed to something we call 'fun.' "
"It seems they want and expect everything that the 20- or 30-year veteran has the first week they're there," says Mike Amos, a Salt Lake City-based franchise consultant for Perkins Restaurants.
Sadly, I think there's a lot of truth to this article...we just aren't willing to sit around and take empty commands from higher-ups for 20 years before we really move ahead. I refuse to be another faceless cog in a meaningless corporation. Apparently we've had it drilled in our heads that you just don't get ahead by sitting around waiting for shit to happen. I want what I want, and I want it NOW. Haha. Truthfully though, I agree with the guy in the article...it's not so much that we think we're "entitled" to anything, but we do believe that if we work damn hard for it, we sure as hell deserve it.
Monday, June 20, 2005
Not bad...not bad at all. It's been a fairly good week, I must say. A week that consisted of some daytime shoppin at Forever 21 for "research", long lunches, good weather, dinner and brunch with friends, a crazy Friday night out and a chill Saturday night at home. Hey, it's all a girl needs.
For those of you wondering, acting class has been goin aite...so weird to be up there after more than a decade away from the theater. Hopefully it'll do me some good.
And I received my new digital cam to start my freelance trendspotting! Woo hoo. Basically, an agency is payin me a bit of side dough to tell them what's new and hot on the streets of NYC each month, and I can record these trends with the camera. Should be interesting...
That's it for now kiddos! Hope everyone's enjoying the summer.
Monday, June 13, 2005
DAZED AND CONFUSED.
How strange. Normally when summertime hits, I'm in the mood to hit up all the places around town - get a hot tan, sip on frappucinos/margaritas, see and be seen. But this year...it just doesn't appeal to me all that much. Maybe I'm getting older, but I would prefer to retire to my humble abode, curl up with a good book or magazine, and just CHILL. Is that too much to ask?? It seems impossible to take a much desired (and much NEEDED) sabbatical from the rockstar party scene when all of your friends are single in New York City. Somehow it seems ludicrous to suggest having a movie night on a Friday night. Or even more outrageous would be to stay in and have two movie nights in a row!! Unheard of! I'd get looks from people as though I'd lost my marbles.
Just a random thought: Why do I feel like I've run around and come back full circle, ending up right back where I started 10 years ago? I guess the 20's really are the new teens...
It just keeps getting better, don't it?
On a sidenote: The Keane concert was amazing, and I had a blast at the Belmont Stakes this weekend!! Thanks for the invite, Chigga! Too bad I won all of 8 bucks and spent over 50. Haha!
Monday, June 06, 2005
HOORAY FOR SUMMER FRIDAYS!!!
